Productive sanitation
Balancing between health risk, livelihood opportunities, and environmental impacts
Worldwide, 2.6 billion people lack appropriate sanitation facilities and services. Targeting specific areas in West Africa and Southeast Asia, this research project aims to develop a practical assessment tool for use in planning sustainable sanitation strategies. The comprehensive tool will be capable of evaluating risks to human health and the environment and identifying appropriate measures that reconcile technical, economic, and social requirements.
